LongboreTT applies a rigid system of control on operational safety from job planning to finalisation of a project. Before a project is ever started, we prepare a rig site specific safety plan. Prior to crew mobilisation, the safety plan is reviewed by each crewmember together with the Project Engineer. Requirements for environmental projects are considerably more stringent than drilling associated with utility jobs. However, LongboreTT applies the same approach to safety and site conditions on all projects. Typically a LongboreTT site safety plan includes: - Description of the Work
- Client/Owner Contact Names and Phone Numbers
- One Call – Dig Safely
- Utilities & Other Hazards – Locates
- Emergency Telephone Numbers
- Utility Strike Emergency Plan
- Rig Operating Procedures
- Exit Side Operations
- Job Safety & Risk Analysis
- Mobile Crane Reference
- Overhead Electrical Line Clearances
- Crane Operational Data
- Personnel
- Heat Stress Issues
- Client/Owner Safety Plan
- Specialist Clothing
- Crew Training Requirements

Thinking Safety—Start to Finish. Rig site preparation, together with cleanup, are essential parts of the operation to improve safety, maintain crew health and minimise potential contamination. Our objective is to have the site in a better state when we leave than when we begin. Training & Testing—Reinforcing the Basics. All of our rig crew members are trained to CSCS CPCS standards and several specific training modules insuring that crews are competent to operate the required site plant and equipment. Crew members are subjected to rigorous health monitoring and operating procedures, including random drug and alcohol testing. Safety meetings are held before each day’s operations begin and prior to any change in operations throughtout the day. Crew & Site Safety—All Day, Every Day. - Locating all underground utilities and obstructions.
- Maintaining safe distances from overhead power lines.
- Protecting against contamination or chemical spills.
- Controlling site access together with restrictions on operating easements.
Our primary objective is to maintain a zero-defect safety system. That includes a full crew for maximum effective working safety. A typical crew makeup: - Rig and Site Superintendent
- Driller
- Fluids Technician
- Two Floor Men
- Surveyor/Guidance Technician
Surveyor Safety Above and Beyond. We employ highly trained, experienced surveyors who conduct surface and downhole surveys to insure we know the exact relative location of the drilling assembly and underground hazards at all times. This is a key safety element. LongboreTT uses the best available instruments, computing hardware and software— operated by experienced, competent surveyors.
