About Us

LongboreTT provides precision horizontal directional drilling services in both the utility and environmental markets for the trenchless installation of pipelines and conduits and remediation of contaminated land.

In the utility market the experience, innovation and techniques gained from horizontal directional drilling and well installation has been utilised by Longbore to install pipelines and conduits since 1992.   Completed projects include outfalls, landfalls, sewers, water pipelines, fibre optics, electrical transmission lines and gas pipelines.  Projects have been undertaken on railway easements, airports and complex urban environments.  Conduits and pipelines have been placed under roads, rail lines, rivers, canals, wetlands, chemical plants, airport runways and residential/insustrial areas.

Since 1992 Longbore has delivered over 38,231 metresof directionally drilled utility projects with pipe diameters ranging from 50mm (2") to 600mm (24") although there is the capability to drill to 900mm (36") diameter.

These projects have been completed in many geological conditions including, sand, gravel, bedrock, cobbles, clay, sandstone, limestone, granite and quartzite.

In the environmental market Longbore has developed horizontal drilling and well installation technologies for use in contaminated land remediation.  The advantages of horizontal wells for environmental remediation are numerous.  A single horizontal well can perform virtually every aspect of remediation more effectively and econmically than the multiple wells required in a vertical system.

Horizontal wells can accurately access contamiants that are unreachable with verticle wellbores.  Horizontal wells can traverse the entire length of the contaminant plume, maximising wellbore exposure and contaminant recovery for remediation applications.  The need for fewer wells drastically reduces total drilling time, and cost per-metre of exposed plume.  Treatment of the contaminant area can be administered bt fwere wellheads, thus reducing surface system installation costs.  One horizontal well can replace up to forty vertical wells, lowering operating and maintenance costs and greatly shortening the time required for remediation.   Horizontal wells can be used to construct hydraulic barriers to prevent the migration of contaminants, or to lower the water table in order to move plumes back to areas whwre yhey can be treated.

Horizontal wells have been used for ground water pump and treat, free phase LNAPL/DNAPL recovery, air sparge, soil vapour extraction, biosparging, dewatering and ground water containment applications.  The wells have been installed at landfills, airports, rail yards, manufacturing facilities and underground storage tank sites.
